Singapore Sling

13th June 2007 to 17th June 2007

H: We thought it couldn’t hurt to break our trip home with a few days in Singapore. We were paying per kilo to ship our boxes back to the UK so took full advantage of our weight allowance on the flight. We did the usual trick of wearing everything heavy but paid the price when we got to Singapore and it was 30 degrees.

Having spent all our money at Mount Cook we found a cheap hotel in the middle of the red light district and the taxi driver checked a few times to make sure that was really where we wanted to go!

Singapore seems to be full of shopping malls and we went in a few to escape the heat until Greg realised it would be better for our bank balance to just suffer the heat. His care of our money didn’t last too long as we walked past the Fullerton (a veeeeery posh hotel) and veered in to find whether it was near our price range. It wasn’t (although G was still tempted) so we stayed put in the red light district!
